Building a career through curiosity, service and support

How Lana is utilising the experience and passion in committment to service

At DTF, Lana built a career by saying yes to new opportunities. Imagine that.

Over the past 30 years in government, Lana has built a career that spans multiple departments, industries and challenges. From child protection and youth justice to mining, ICT and superannuation, each role has added new skills, knowledge and experiences to her professional toolkit.

"I've had the opportunity to work across many different departments and functions, and every role has taught me something new."

Today, Lana works as a Senior Business Support Officer within Super SA, bringing decades of experience and a passion for supporting both colleagues and customers. What has remained consistent throughout her career is a commitment to service.

"I enjoy customer service and take pride in the knowledge, skills, experience and relationships I've built throughout my career," she says.

"I pick up new systems and processes quickly and adapt to change easily, which has helped me take on a variety of roles and challenges over the years."

Before joining Super SA, Lana worked within DTF's ICT division, providing project support across areas including human resources, records management and secretariat services. She was also a First Aid Representative and Mental Health Representative. Those experiences, combined with the many roles she's held throughout government, have given her a unique perspective on how different teams contribute to shared outcomes.

For Lana, one of the most rewarding aspects of working at Super SA is knowing her work has a direct impact on South Australians.

"In Super SA, there is a very strong passion for giving members the best possible experience, products and customer service," she says.

"Everything we do ultimately contributes to supporting our members and helping them achieve better outcomes."

That sense of purpose is paired with ongoing opportunities to learn and develop.

Growth happens when people are encouraged to keep developing their capabilities."

Since joining DTF and Super SA, Lana has expanded her knowledge of superannuation, human resources processes, policies and systems.

"I enjoy learning new things and taking on the challenges that come with them," she says.

Throughout her career, support from colleagues and leaders has played a significant role in her development.

"Support and mentoring have made the biggest difference to me. They've helped me build more knowledge, skills and experience, while giving me the confidence to continue growing."

Whether through formal training, learning from colleagues, new opportunities or supportive managers, Lana believes growth happens when people are encouraged to keep developing their capabilities.

At DTF, careers aren't defined by a single pathway. They're shaped by curiosity, continuous learning and the confidence to embrace new opportunities. Whether you're starting out or bringing years of experience, you'll find the support, challenge and opportunity to keep growing.
