Treasurer of South Australia
The Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP
Tom has been the Member of Parliament for the seat of West Torrens since 1997 and is currently the Treasurer, Minister for Energy and Mining and the Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly.
The son of Greek migrants, Anthony and Dimitra, Tom was raised in the western suburbs. He attended Cowandilla and Netley Primary Schools before attending Adelaide High School and going on to study at Adelaide University.
Tom was elected to the South Australian State Parliament on 11 October 1997, at age 26. Tom was elevated to the Ministry on 3 March 2009 and remained in Cabinet until the 2018 State election. Over this period, he served as Minister for Correctional Services, Youth and Volunteers, Gambling, Small Business, Transport, Planning and Infrastructure, Mining and Energy, State Development and as Treasurer.
Following the 2022 election, Tom became the Minister for Mining and Energy, Transport and Infrastructure and Leader of Government Business.
In September 2025 he was again sworn in as South Australia’s Treasurer.
Tom is married to Anthea and they have two daughters, Tia and Helena. They live in Torrensville and he is a tragic Liverpool supporter.

Deputy Premier of South Australia
Special Minister of State (with responsibility for Parliamentary resources, including Electorate Services)
The Hon Kyam Maher MLC
Kyam is the Deputy Premier of South Australia, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector, Special Minister of State and Leader of Government Business in the Legislative Council.
Kyam is a proud Aboriginal man who served as the Aboriginal Affairs Minister in the Weatherill Labor Government guiding important reforms such as being the first State in Australia to commence Treaty negotiations with Aboriginal Nations and implementing a Stolen Generations reparations scheme.
Kyam is particularly passionate about ensuring that all South Australians are afforded the dignity that good, meaningful jobs provide, and that all South Australians are able to share in the opportunities and benefits this State offers.
A Graduate of Adelaide University, he holds degrees in Law and Economics and practiced as a lawyer with the Crown Solicitor’s Office before working in politics.
After growing up in country South Australia, mainly Mt Gambier, Kyam now lives in the southern suburbs of Adelaide with his wife Carmel, three boys, a cat, and a growing flock of chooks.
Kyam enjoys spending time in regional SA, cycling (slowly), mowing the lawn and has a particular fondness for a good sausage roll.

Assistant Minister for Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy
Michael Brown MP
In February 2025, Michael was appointed as Assistant Minister for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Digital Economy.
Born in the northern suburbs, Michael is a long-time resident of his electorate of Florey along with his wife and their three daughters.
Starting as a busboy at age 15, Michael has had a wide-ranging career as an IT Professional and then as an Advisor to government on Economic Development and Justice policy. He moved into the role of State Secretary for the state Labor Party for the next 6 years before working as Chief Executive at a local law firm. After that, Michael rejoined Government in the Justice policy area, before becoming the Chief of Staff to the Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion.
Michael was elected as the Member for Playford in 2018 and, following a redistribution of electoral boundaries, elected as the Member for Florey in 2022.
It has been Michael’s privilege to serve on several Parliamentary Committees, including as Chair of the Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and member of the Joint Committee on the Establishment of Adelaide University, both in 2023. He has also previously been the Presiding Member of the Public Works Committee and a member of the Legislative Review Committee, the Environment, Resources and Development Committee, the Statutory Officers Committee, the Standing Orders Committee and the Joint Parliamentary Services Committee. He was Opposition Whip between 2018 and 2022.
