How to submit an Application for Unclaimed Money
If you have money owed, you will be able to submit an application for unclaimed money through our portal. We do not charge any fees to make a claim. It’s important to have the right documents before making a claim which can verify you as the owner.
Here’s an overview of the application process:
- Search the Unclaimed Money Register (external site) for money you may be owed.
- If you have found money that you may be owed, click View Detail. If you have multiple records for the same name and source email DTFUnclaimedmoney@sa.gov.au or contact us on 08 8372 7502 (option 4) to merge these records before starting your application.
- If you wish to make an application click Start Application for the applicable Unclaimed Money Reference Number.
- Select whether your application pertains to an individual, organisation, business or deceased estate.
- If you are applying on behalf of an owner pursuant to an Agency Authority Agreement, please select Agent.
- If you are applying with a Power of Attorney please select individual and upload your Power of Attorney with proof of identity documents.
Your selection will determine and advise you of the supporting evidence that must be submitted with your application.
- Upload certified copies of your proof of identity and proof of connection information (connection to address or connection to source of funds) which verifies you are the owner. Documents must have been certified as a true copy of an original document by a Justice of the Peace or authorised witness. - Complete your bank account details to enable EFT payment.
- Read and complete your Declaration. Once completed, click Submit.
- Once you’ve successfully submitted your application, assuming you have provided satisfactory proof of ownership to the money, you should expect to receive a determination within 20 business days.

Please note: Where a person has been identified as a 'vulnerable owner ' the information published on the register is limited to the owner's name and ABN (if relevant).
