The Government has committed to review regional school bus services offered to students of non-government schools in regional areas.

School Bus Service Review

The aim of the review is to inform the best mechanism to provide fair access to school bus services for non‑government school students in regional areas.

The review is being conducted jointly by the Department of Treasury and Finance, the Department for Education, and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

Work has commenced on the Review, and the formal consultation process will begin in mid-January.   An independent party is coordinating the consultation process, which will seek the view of relevant stakeholders and members of the public affected by government school bus services.

The consultation will be seeking feedback on this matter relevant to the Terms of Reference. Click here for a copy of the Terms of Reference. The community will have the opportunity to provide feedback via the YourSAy website ( from 21 January 2019.

Responses received as part of the consultation process will inform the Review’s recommendations and report to the Government.
